Neighborhood/Community Beautification Days
Civic Energy at Work
The City holds various beautification and litter abatement days event to assist residents with cleaning up and beautifying their neighborhoods and other public spaces. During these days, garbage, litter and overgrown greenery are removed from common grounds such as parks, open spaces, medians and sidewalks. We provide dumpsters, garbage bags, litter sticks, and assist with coordination and pick up of debris. Annual Spring Beautification Days usually takes place on Earth Day weekend the end of April, while Fall Beautification Days usually take place in September and October to coincide with Coastal Cleanup Day and Make a Difference Day. HOW IT WORKS Every neighborhood is encouraged to organize a work group. Individuals can contact their neighborhood association or the Volunteer Program Office to hook up with other participants. The Volunteer Program provides materials, liasons with Public Works, and assists with logistics. Volunteers don gloves, grab some bags and go for it! This is a great opportunity to bring out the kids and introduce them to tangible efforts at bettering the community one sidewalk at a time. For many, these Beautification Days have become an annual family event. Please call 415-485-3407 if you need more information. SAVE THE DATES! Cesar Chavez Day, March 27 Earth Day, April 24 |
