  Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities The following is just a sampling of recent openings.  Please give us a call at (415) 485-3407, send a comment or email us to find out what else we have available. If you have an idea for a volunteer position or a desire for volunteerism that you don't see here, please let us know and we will see if we can accommodate your interest. Thank you for visiting!

Teen Library Volunteers
Assist the Teen Librarian and Webmaster with various tasks in the library related to books and other materials, the teen web interface and various other tasks. Teen Librarian willing to craft positions that match teens interested in Library activities. Summer opportunities available!

  Falkirk Greeter/Concierge
Help Falkirk Cultural Center keep the doors open to the public! Falkirk is a community cultural center and art gallery open to the public Monday-Friday 1pm-5pm. In order to keep the doors open and run the facility efficiently, Falkirk will need friendly volunteers to staff the desk 2-3 hours per day to greet visitors, show them the house, explain the history and rental procedures. Great for people who like to interact with the public as well as history and/or historic house buffs.

Social Media Volunteer Intern
Assist Volunteer Coordinator with social media development and postings for Falkirk Cultural Center (an arts and history center) and San Rafael Clean Campaign (an anti-litter program). Train volunteer coordinator and other volunteers how to use SM effectively, especially Facebook.

Litter Education Outreach Presenter
Help San Rafael Clean with getting the word out about the harms of litter. Our Litter Hurts presentation is on tour in schools and in social clubs, teaching young people about the harms of litter, and what they can do about it on a personal level. Good presenting skills and an ability to work with young people a must. A working knowledge of laptop computers and Microsoft PowerPoint is helpful, but not necessary. Enthusiasm about the earth and ease in front of groups of people makes you the perfect candidate.

What is the process for volunteering? First contact us to discuss opportunities and see if we have something that interests you. Then you will be asked to complete/submit the Application Form. Once we receive the form you will be scheduled for an interview. After the interview, we'll refer you to the department to see if there is a good match. If so, then a schedule is set up and training or orientation will begin. Thank you for your interest!
